Die Erde, ein lebendiger Planet

The earth is a living planet, on which many complex systems run perfectly and continuously, non-stop. If you compare them with other planets, it becomes obvious that the earth was „designed“ in all aspects especially for human life. Built on delicate equilibria, life prevails in every place on this planet, from the atmosphere to the depths of the earth.

Just exploring a few of the millions of these delicate balances will be enough to show that the world we live in was created especially for us.

One of the most important balances on our planet is revealed in the atmosphere that surrounds us. The atmosphere of the earth contains the most appropriate gases in the most suitable ratio, which is necessary for the survival of not only human beings, but also all other living things on earth.

The 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% carbon dioxide as well as other gases that are already present in the atmosphere represent the ideal values that are necessary for the survival of living beings. Oxygen, a gas that is vital for living things, helps to burn food in our bodies and convert it into energy.

If the proportion of oxygen in the atmosphere were greater than 21%, our body cells would soon suffer great damage. The vegetation and carbohydrate molecules needed for life would also be destroyed. If it were less, it would make breathing difficult and the food we eat would not be converted into energy. Therefore, the 21% oxygen in the atmosphere is the most ideal amount intended for life.

But not only oxygen, other gases such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide are also contained in an ideal amount to ensure the needs of living beings and the survival of life. The amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere is the ideal amount to offset the harmful and burning effects of oxygen. This fraction represents the most suitable value required for photosynthesis, which in turn is essential for the energy supply of life on earth. In addition, the proportion of carbon dioxide has the most appropriate value that is required to maintain the stability of the surface temperature on earth and to prevent heat loss, especially at night. This gas, which makes up 1% of the atmosphere, covers the earth like a quilt and prevents heat loss into space.

Thanks to a perfect system, these proportions remain constant. The vegetation that covers the earth converts carbon dioxide into oxygen, producing 190 billion tons of oxygen every day. The proportion of other gases on Earth is kept constant with the help of complex interconnected systems. This is how life is maintained.

In addition to creating an ideal gas mixture that is needed for life on Earth, the mechanisms to maintain and maintain this order have been created right next to it. Any break in balance, whether immediate or any change that gradually occurs, would mean the complete destruction of life. But this does not happen. The formation of these gases in the atmosphere in exactly the amount that people need and the constant preservation of these parts indicate a planned creation.

At the same time, the earth is the ideal size in terms of mass to have an atmosphere. If the earth’s mass were a little smaller, its gravity would not be enough and the atmosphere would disperse in space. If their mass were a little higher, their gravity would be too strong and the earth would absorb all the gases in the atmosphere. An incredibly high number of conditions must be met to create an atmosphere like the one that our world currently has, and all of these conditions must exist together to make life possible.

The creation of these delicate proportions and balances in heaven is mentioned in the Quran:

“And He raised heaven. And He set up the scales. ”(Quran 55: 7)

The majority of people live their lives without being aware of the delicate balance and subtle attitudes in the composition of gases in the atmosphere, the distance from the earth to the sun or the movement of the planets. They know nothing of the importance of these balances and attitudes for their own lives. However, even a slight deviation from any of these arrangements would create serious problems for human existence and survival.

There are many other equilibria established on Earth for the survival of life:

For example, if gravity on the surface were stronger than it is now, the atmosphere would hold back so much ammonia and methane gas that it would mean the end of life. If it were weaker, the planet’s atmosphere would lose too much water and life on Earth would become impossible.

The thickness of the earth’s crust is another of the delicate equilibria of the earth. If the earth’s crust were thicker, too much oxygen would be transferred from the atmosphere to the crust, and this would have a huge impact on human life.

If the opposite were true, that is, if the earth’s crust were thinner, then the volcanic and tectonic activity would be too strong to allow life on earth.

Another essential balance for human life is the ozone content in the atmosphere. If it were larger than its current value, the surface temperatures would be too low. If it were higher, the surface temperatures would be too high and there would be too much ultraviolet radiation on the surface.

Indeed, the absence of any of these equilibria would herald the end of life on earth. However, God created the universe with infinite wisdom and power and made the earth specially for human life. Nevertheless, the majority of people live their lives completely ignorant of these events. In the Quran, God reminds the people of His:

“He makes the night go into the day and the day into the night. And He made (you) the sun and the moon subservient; each orbits its orbit for a certain time. This is God your Lord; His is the kingdom, and those you call instead of Him do not even have power over the cuticle of a date nucleus. ”(Quran 35:13)

It is enough to look at the millions of dead planets in space to understand that the delicate balances required for life on earth cannot be the result of haphazard coincidences. The conditions that are essential for life are too complicated to have arisen “out of yourself” and purely by accident – these conditions were created specifically for life.

These equilibria, which we have briefly described so far, are just a few of the millions of intricate, interconnected equilibria and orders that have been established so that people can live in peace and security on Earth.
Examining only a part of these equilibria is enough to understand the superiority of God, to understand the existence of a planned creation for every detail of the universe. It is undoubtedly impossible for a person or any other living being to establish such an enormous balance or order; Even the components of this order, such as atoms, elements, molecules and gases, are unable to set up an order on the basis of such complicated and extremely sensitive calculations, dimensions and fine-tuning. This is because activities such as planning, determining, arranging, calculating and proportioning can only be carried out by beings who have wisdom, knowledge and power. The sublime being that organizes, plans and weighs the whole universe,

The Quran also confirms that the people who are able to grasp these facts are only the „insightful“ ones:

„Truly, in the creation of heaven and earth and in the alternation of night and day , are true signs for the insightful, who remember God standing and sitting and (lying) on their sides and thinking (and saying) about the creation of the heavens and the earth: „Our Lord, you did not create this for nothing. Praised you are, therefore protect us from the punishment of fire. ” (Quran 3: 190-191)
